Creation of Nagongera district excites local leaders.

Residents of Greater West Budama North are celebrating the creation of Nagongera district. Nagongera district is among the three districts and one city that the President recently proposed to be created out of Tororo district.  While the creation has been received with resentment in most areas in the two constituencies, residents are planning to hold a celebration to express their excitement. During a planning meeting held today at the proposed Nagongera district headquarters, leaders welcomed the creation of the new district saying that they have all the reasons to be excited. James Onyango the interim chairperson organizing committee for the proposed celebration said they welcome the creation of the new district wholeheartedly.  Onyango says they wished Nagongera district should have been curved long time,it would have saved most people from trekking long distances to access social services. NUP Converts to NRM, Urges Youth To Embrace Government Programs

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met a group of converts from the National Unity Platform (NUP) at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, commending them for reforming and pledging to support their reintegration into society. The President congratulated the former prisoners for turning away from what he described as misleading opposition politics, noting that they had “realized their mistakes” and earned his forgiveness. He warned that some leaders in NUP and sections of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) misguide the youth into danger, resulting in unnecessary deaths. “I have heard your memorandum, and we will study it,” President Museveni said, before urging the converts to focus on building better lives through government programs. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and the Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has officially launched the party’s manifesto for the 2026–2031 term. At a grand ceremony hosted at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel on 29th September, 2025 which drew Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, senior NRM officials, party secretariat leaders, under the theme: “Protecting the Gains and Securing a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status”, President Museveni retraced the NRM’s 60-year historical struggle while also laying out ambitious commitments for the next five years. Government picks Tororo central market to pilot Vendor management system.

Tororo central market has been chosen by the ministry of local government as one of the markets in Uganda to pilot the yet to be introduced Vendor management system (VMS) . The vendor management system is a new digital platform that ministry of local government contracted Interswitch to develop. The company is currently in a trial and Tororo central market has been chosen among the organized markets in the country to pilot the program. VMS aims to simplify vendors’ revenues management for local government market, extending digital e-commerce and financial inclusion to vendors Under this system, all lock ups, pitches, stalls will be freshly captured and all vendors will be re- registered and put in the system for easy monitoring This system will enable government to monitor the progress of lock ups payments by vendors and also track defaulters. Busoga Ghettos and Muslim Women Saccos Gifted Shs 3.2 Billion by President Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni fulfilled his pledge of 2 billion shillings financial support to the Muslim Women SACCOs in the country. He equally extended Shs 1.2 billion to the ghetto SACCOs in the 12 districts and city of Busoga Sub-region. Delivering the package On behalf of the President, was State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye today at Okello House, Nakasero, in Kampala. Ms. Barekye informed the beneficiaries that the funds should be utilized according to the Presidential directive whereby they can borrow, invest, then pay back after one year at an interest of 6 percent. For clarity, Ms. Barekye explained that the 6 percent interest applies on ghetto SACCO funds whereas for the Muslim Women SACCO funds, a service fee of 6 percent will be charged per annum. Drone strike on Sudan mosque kills 78, medic tells BBC

More than 70 people have been killed following a drone strike on a mosque in Sudan's Darfur region, a senior medical source has told the BBC. Friday's attack in the city of el-Fasher has been blamed on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), but the group has not taken responsibility. The RSF and the army have been engaged in a ferocious civil war for more than two years. The paramilitaries are gaining ground as they fight to seize complete control of el-Fasher - the last army stronghold in Darfur and home to more than 300,000 civilians who have been trapped by the fighting. One resident told the BBC the drone struck during morning prayers, killing dozens of people instantly. The medical source said 78 died and about 20 were injured, but the process of extracting the bodies from the rubble of the building was still ongoing. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was on Saturday the chief celebrate at the international youth day celebrations held in Masindi District, Bunyoro sub-region. International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12, following a 1999 UN resolution, to recognize the role of young people in development. According to the 2024 National Census, Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world with 73.5% below the age of 30, thus considering its youth a strategic resource for socio-economic transformation. The paramount chief of Iteso Paul Sande Emolot has urged politicians to take charge of their political camps to limit hooliganism that may result into violence elections. Speaking to mourners at the burial of one Betty Adiko Imunyo Mella Central village Mella sub county here in Tororo district, he noted that ignoring to take charge of the supporters is the reasons for increased violence. Man lynched by mob in Tororo over goats theft allegations.

A man believed to be in his 40's has been lynched by an irate mob for allegedly stealing two goats and a sheep here in Tororo district. The incident occurred in Nyalaot village Nyalakot sub county. The yet to be identified victim who did not have identification documents on him, and was also a stranger in the area was today intercepted as he ferried the two animals on a motorcycle as him an his rider were heading to Malaba border.  The rider managed to elude arrest and he rid off Residents became suspicious because they rod in high speed despite attempts to stop them by market dues collectors stagged at Koitangiro primary school.  The residents first took time to task him to prove if the animals were his own, he reportedly failed.
