Mr. Ochieng Benard a.k.a Oben nominated for Mayoral Race

Ochieng Benard aka Oben the NRM party Flag bearer Tororo municipality mayoral race was this afternoon joined by hundreds of cheering supporters after his nomination. Oben is among the two other candidates who have so far been nominated to tussle the incumbent mayor Kenneth Orono Nyapidi who was nominated as an independent. The other candidate is Robert Omaidu Okombe who was also nominated as an independent. While addressing the press after his nominations, Ochieng revealed that his leadership is mainly going to address the gaps in service delivery in Tororo municipality. He says his focus will be centered at fighting corruption, equipping health facilities with medical supplies and equipment, upgrading of marrum roads to tarmac roads as well as empowering communities in the peri-urban areas with income generating activities to enable them join the business industry. He criticized the current leadership for putting service delivery on its manifesto to an extent that the leadership started offering tenders to themselves which saw quality compromised. He cited incidents where resources meant to streamline service delivery have ended up in people’s pockets especially in the roads sector.

Adhola moved with his brother Owiny who led a group through Tororo to western Kenya .The group that remained in Tororo under Adhola later constituted the present Jopadhola ethnic group which developed a distinct social, political and economic system that survived and served as their identity, and later realized unity and harmonious interaction with the environment.
