Hoima National Stadium 98% Complete

The state minister for education in charge of sports Peter Ogwang has said he is impressed with the speed at which Ms Suuma, a company that was contracted to undertake the construction of Hoima stadium, is moving. While the project whose construction started in July 2024 and scheduled to be complete by December, 31, 2025, the contractor is ahead of schedule and is expected to be handed over to government in October 2025. Murat said the construction work is ahead of schedule with completion anticipated earlier than the initial 18-month timeframe. The project progress currently stands at 89% while the main 20,000 seater stadium is at 98% as confirmed by Mulati Altun, the project manager during the site inspection by the minister. About Hoima Stadium Hoima National Stadium, commonly known as FUFA Rujumba Stadium Hoima or Hoima City Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium under construction in Uganda. It is intended to be used for the first time, during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament. The stadium is one of the three stadia that Uganda plans to use during the tournament, that will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.[2 The 20,000-seater Hoima City Stadium, funded by Uganda’s Petroleum Fund, is now 80% complete.] The stadium is located in Mparo Division, in the city of Hoima, in Bunyoro sub-region, in the Western Region of Uganda. The proposed stadium will sits on a total of 34.9 acres (14.1 ha) of which 10 acres (4.0 ha) was donated by the Estate of the late Dr. Rujumba and another 10 acres (4.0 ha) was sold to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) by the same estate.[3][4] The remaining 14.9 acres (6.0 ha) was acquired by the Uganda National Council of Sports.[5]
