A hopeful for the Tororo District Woman Parliamentary seat Angela Akoth has pledged to prioritize education, job creation and health care once elected.

Akoth who is contesting under Independent ticket using a ball as her symbol made the pledge today while traversing Tororo South County to canvas for votes ahead of 2026 general election.

She started her campaign today in Ainge , Akolodongo, Obote and Amagoro wards in Malaba town council before proceeding to Koitangiro, Kinyil and Mella parishes in Mella sub county where she had triumphant welcome and in others areas voters handed over gifts to her describing her as a savior.

She says that her campaign is premised on the fact that Tororo needs a leader willing to lobby for better services in the education and health sector.

She says she will buy an ambulance to spur a referral system and boost the health sector.

Akoth says that she intends to empower youth, women and men groups besides lobbying for scholarships and bursaries for the bright children.

As a lawyer, she is aware that once an investment has been established Investor in an area 45 percent of job opportunities are supposed to benefit the local people and basing on this policy it will be her role to lobby with investors to offer job opportunities to the local people.

She says in order to get familiar with the challenges that each community faces, she is carrying out village to village campaigns so as to closely engage the voters on her vision for the development of Tororo District.

Akoth also campaigned for President Yoweri Museveni whom he said is a good mentor

In all the campaign venues, voters testified how they have been orphans for the last fifteen years despite participating in all elections.

The voters accused the incumbent district woman Member of Parliament Sarah Opendi of incompetence and being an abstract to development.

Achieng Harriet, a voter in Kinyil parish, said their vote in the last 15 years has been a waste because their living standards have not changed.

Many parents testified how the incumbent has frustrated their children from benefiting from education and job opportunities .

He said they not ready anymore to vote for leaders who are only good at delegating young people to represent them in burials.
