NUP candidates in Tororo decry defacing and vandalism of their campaign posters.
Supporters of the National Unity Platform Party in Tororo district have decried the continued defacing and vandalism of their candidate’s campaign posters.
While
addressing the press on 29th August, 2025. The aggrieved supporters
of the opposition party accused the security operatives of aiding the vice as
they seen harassing and intimidating those who report the cases.
Henry
Ochieng who is contesting for West Budama North constituency Parliamentary seat
to unseat the incumbent Max Ochai says continued defacing of their posters
being one of the hiccups they are facing on the ground despite manning mob
support.
He says he
wonders why the security that is supposed to offer protection to all citizens
and their property have instead shown that they are only with the ruling
government.
Meanwhile
the chairperson of the National Unity Platform Party for Tororo district Chrispine
Osilo challenged the supporters to remain calm amidst all the hurdles they are
undergoing describing it a sign of panic from the ruling government.
He said the threats
exerted on opposition are a demonstration that the incumbent government does
not have anything to tell Ugandans to enable them support its bid for 2026
general elections.
He
encouraged members of the National Unity Platform holding the party flags to
ensure that they pick nomination from earlier to make them become eligible for
nominations by the national electoral commission ahead of the 2026 general
elections
