NUP candidates in Tororo decry defacing and vandalism of their campaign posters.

Supporters of the National Unity Platform Party in Tororo district have decried the continued defacing and vandalism of their candidate’s campaign posters.

While addressing the press on 29th August, 2025. The aggrieved supporters of the opposition party accused the security operatives of aiding the vice as they seen harassing and intimidating those who report the cases.

Henry Ochieng who is contesting for West Budama North constituency Parliamentary seat to unseat the incumbent Max Ochai says continued defacing of their posters being one of the hiccups they are facing on the ground despite manning mob support.

He says he wonders why the security that is supposed to offer protection to all citizens and their property have instead shown that they are only with the ruling government.

Meanwhile the chairperson of the National Unity Platform Party for Tororo district Chrispine Osilo challenged the supporters to remain calm amidst all the hurdles they are undergoing describing it a sign of panic from the ruling government.

He said the threats exerted on opposition are a demonstration that the incumbent government does not have anything to tell Ugandans to enable them support its bid for 2026 general elections.

He encouraged members of the National Unity Platform holding the party flags to ensure that they pick nomination from earlier to make them become eligible for nominations by the national electoral commission ahead of the 2026 general elections
