 SIRONKO DISTRICT FACTSHEET (2025) – SUMMARY

Population & Administration: Sironko District has 2 constituencies, 42 sub-counties/town councils, 224 parishes, and 1,543 villages, with a population of 298,363 (2024 Census). Electoral Data: Registered voters increased from 132,465 in 2021 to 155,799 in 2025, with polling stations rising from 391 to 442. Parish Development Model (PDM): Total funds received: Shs. 68.99 billion Funds disbursed: 98.63% (Shs. 68.05 billion) 66,809 households (93%) have benefited from PDM. Emyooga Program: 36 SACCOs with 18,821 members. Government funding: Shs. 1.54 billion. Education Sector: Primary: 111 government schools with 98,962 pupils. Secondary: 12 government schools with 10,660 students; 30 sub-counties still lack a secondary school. 3 new schools planned under UgIFT and USEEP projects. Presidential Industrial Hubs: 19 hubs established nationally; Bugisu hub located in Mbale District. 1,167 youth trained in trades including welding, carpentry, tailoring, baking, and shoemaking. Health Sector: 2 HCIVs and 18 HCIIIs operational. 22 sub-counties lack HCIIIs and above. Several HCII upgrades and new HCIIIs planned. Priorities: immunization, malaria eradication, ICT tracking, staff housing, and medical equipment. Water Sector: Safe water coverage: 89% (1,374 of 1,543 villages). 27,000 served by Sironko Town system; 21,600 by Budadiri Town system; 24 additional systems functional. Ongoing projects aim for 100% water access and expanded irrigation. Water for Production: Bukiise Solar Irrigation Site (8 acres) complete. Ongoing works at Kabokani, Mutufu, and Bujibuni sites. Flood protection valley tanks under construction in Kikuyu, Bunashimolo, and Kibira. Roads Sector: 195 km of roads paved in the last 6 years. Major national roads under rehabilitation include Namagumba–Budadiri–Nalugungu (39 km) and Muyembe–Nakapiripirit (92 km). Others under procurement and design total over 250 km.
