National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Joins NRM to Protect the Gains.

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation has applauded the NRM government for their efforts to transform this country through numerous sectors of the economy.

Speaking to Media, The NWSC Tororo Area Manager, Mr. George Ongwech, Thanked the National Resistance Movement for showcasing tangible development in the country for the last 40 years which include the Water Sector transformation.

Mr. Ongwech observed that national water and Sewerage Corporation has been able to extended water coverage services from Tororo district to the entire Bukedi sub-region with Tororo and Busia district taking the lead.

 He emphasized the alignment of the corporation’s efforts with the NRM’s commitment to protecting development gains. “We are proud to contribute to the transformation of communities through reliable water access,” Ongwech stated.

Mr. George further highlighted Areas of success today, which have flowing Water that never existed before in Tororo like Tororo Municipality entirely, Malaba Town Council, Nagongera, Nabuyoga, Mulanda, Kwapa, Kisoko, and Magodes. While in Busia covered areas include areas of Busia Municipality, Tiira Town Council, Dabani, Namugodi, Sikuda, Majanji, and Butangtsi Trading Centre.

 Engineer Charles Epeet reported that 354,636 people are now served, with monthly water production reaching 136 million liters and Water distribution network spanned 519 km as of June 2025 with 1,260 public standpipes and 17,106 new connections have been established since 2021.

 Eng. Charles equally noted that Village Coverage stands at;

 Tororo: 99 villages, 74% coverage (73 served, 26 not served).

 Busia: 253 villages, 80% coverage (203 served, 50 not served).With a Combined district coverage standing at 78%.

Meanwhile  National Water and Sewerage Corporation [NWSC] has launched the SCAP 100 Phase 2 project aimed at achieving 100% water coverage in all villages under its jurisdiction. This initiative reflects a forward-looking strategy to ensure sustainable water access for every household.
