The Chairman NRM electoral commission Dr. Tanga Odoi has cautioned Uganda Police against interfering with the electoral commissions’ campaign programs for opposition presidential candidates.

While speaking on Rock Mambo Radio this morning through a phone interview Dr. Tanga Odoi said it was both wrong and unfair for police especially the trigger hungry and excited men in uniform to think that blocking Opposition candidate from campaigning in urban areas or passing through urban settlement would give mileage to the NRM.

Tanga Odoi the NRM Electoral Commission Boss observed that NRM as A party Boosts of 18million Ugandans who subscribe to the party as members and as a party they only need 13million members to come out and vote on 15 January 2026 to automatically make President Museveni an outright winner without any hustle.

Dr. Tanga Odoi further disclosed that president Museveni and the NRM flag-bearer by statistics will win the next general elections in January 2026 by 70 percentage by virtue of his public service delivery credentials and his good governance etiquettes which have transformed this country tremendously.

Tanga noted that consistent Police habits of forcing opposition Presidential candidates to go through rural routes and communities across the country make some members of the public to assume that president Museveni is not popular and fears, fair competition hence informing the major reasons why police acts in the manner they conduct rallies with great disregard to the harmonized Presidential candidates Campaign program  Painting the NRM Government as a bad government hence winning opposition more sympathizers.

Asked whether Police was acting on command as it popularly known today as “order from above” Tanga responded by reminding the listeners and the men in the studio that president is on record for cautioning police on their excise habits and conduct especially when it gets to managing operations right from Covid 19 days whenever he had opportunity to address the Public.

However, Dr.Tanga Odoi equally cautioned the opposition to adhere to campaign electoral guidelines and wonder how a police Officer, from the traffic department would look on, instead of blocking Opposition Candidates from passing through a City or Town Council while left to hang on the top of cars without arrests being made, which is against the law. And in turn attracts the crowds which keep on following these Presidential candidates.

Dr. Tanga Odoi reminded Voters from Tororo district and Bukedi region to only vote for NRM flag bearers and Vote for the ruling NRM party with 99.9 Percent since their not ready to be ashamed as a region and thanked Tororo County for Voting the NRM 87.4 Percent in the last general Elections.

Its Should be noted opposition Candidates especially National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has done much of his campaigns, travelling to campaign venues either changed to far venues or passing through dusty village routes on the outskirts of Urban Settlements for fear of his fans interfering with smooth operations of traffic flow and theft of public property.
