The Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs Jacob Oboth Oboth has appealed to the youths of Tororo district and Uganda as a whole to rise to the occasion and fully support President Yoweri Museveni and NRM party to guarantee them a much brighter future.

Addressing a crowd of young people this Thursday evening at Pajwenda Seed secondary school ground in West Budama Central in Tororo District, Oboth who doubles as the Member of Parliament for West Budama Central constituency said no government or leader other than President Museveni has ever ushered in the peace and security they are currently enjoying.

The Defence Minister explained that Museveni has heavily invested in young people through various government programs and representation at all levels in a bid to improve their well-being.

"I want you to value the gains and achievements registered by NRM. Every young person has a future when Museveni is in power. Let us protect our gains in peace and security. We can now enjoy border-border from Kasese- Kotido, from Arua-Malaba among others. If anyone has nothing to protect, let him/her at least protect the existing peace and security" Oboth added.

He implored the youths to put their trust in President Museveni and NRM party if they are to guarantee their future to enjoy the gains of this government.

" Let us not joke about Uganda through simple opportunists.stake your life for NRM and you will never regret it" the Defence Minister stressed.

On the contrary his counterpart Balaam Barugahara, the State Minister for Youths and Children Affairs said he was in Tororo District to listen to the problems affecting the young people, demand for accountability from the district leaders on funds sent by government for all government programs such as Youth Livelihood fund, Emyooga, Parish development model and the women fund among others and above all, mobilise support for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers in the district ahead of next year's election.

President Museveni is slated to visit Tororo District on the 14th of this month for his campaign trail.

The residents in West Budama Central pledged 99% support for President Museveni in the coming general elections to appreciate him for appointing their son Hon. Oboth Oboth Minister for Defence and also for granting them Mulanda district.

However, they requested for tarmacking of Tororo-Pajwenda-Mulanda-Nabuyoga road, to compensate former staff of TICAF and victims of the Alice lakwena insurgency.

Earlier, Minister Balaam met with Tororo youth leaders at the district council chambers and Tororo municipality NRM flag bearers at all levels.

The youth affairs Minister appealed to the youths to pay back the revolving funds to benefit others.

Yeri Apollo Ofwono, the Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament pledged over 90% support for President Museveni in the coming elections in Tororo Municipality while warning flag bearers against supporting independent and opposition candidates at the expense of the official party candidates saying whoever is found doing so shall be punished.

,,As youths, you need to vote NRM highly to benefit from the national cake.lets avoid fighting each other. In 2021 elections for example at St.Jude polling station, I garnered 400 votes while the President got 39 votes. This was very sad and it should not be allowed to repeat itself. I want if I win, the President must win even highly" Hon. Yeri who is also Tororo District NRM Chairperson emphasised.

Okecho George, the NRM Parliamentary flag bearer for West Budama South promised to unleash SWOT analysis approach to dislodge all the opportunists to ensure NRM wins massively in his constituency.

He assured that NRM is not a market where people come in expecting to make money.
