Grassroots campaigns for President Museveni rolled out in Tororo District
NRM leaders in Tororo district have launched a marathon grassroots mobilization drive aimed at rallying support for the party flag bearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Spearheaded by the Office of the National Chairman, the drive, is intended at coming up with strategies that will see the party score 100% win in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking during the event launch in West Budama North Constituency held at Kisoko sub county, the coordinator for the Office of the National Chairman in the district Charles Owor explained that the initiative will see leaders of the party apply all strategies including door to door and village baraza’s to canvass for support for all the party flag bearers starting with the president to the councilors.
He said they opted for the move following reports of some party leaders identifying with independents to de-campaign flag bearers which is against the principles of the NRM party.
During the event that drew all the party flag bearers from the constituency, Owor appealed to all the party flag bearers to rally behind their colleagues if they are to register victory.
The district party administrator Kirumi Mawelle warned the party leaders against practicing politics of individualism adding that if they are cited the party will invoke all the support its meant to facilitate them.
Meanwhile the Budama North Member of Parliament and party flag bearer Max Ochai thanked the party secretariat for coming up with such an initiative, that he says will help to strengthen unity in the party.
He blamed continuous poor performance of the party especially for the president in the general elections to in fight among the party leaders. Max Ochai says, party members need to be equipped with the party’s manifesto because some are new in the system and may not be knowledgeable.
