NRM, Independents dominate as EC commenced with nominations of parliamentary aspirants in Tororo

Compared to other political parties, candidates from the ruling National Resistance Movement party and the NRM leaning independent candidates dominated the nominations stage as Electoral Commission kicked off with nominations. Presided over by the district returning officer Charles Egimu, the exercise kicked off smoothly at exactly 9am as the guidelines required. 

Despite excitement and vibe expressed by candidates and their supporters, the returning officer warned candidates against involvement in early campaigns before harmonization of candidates meetings saying that this will risk nullification of their nominations.  Candidate after candidate pledged to focus their efforts in prioritizing service delivery which they said is the driving factor for their contest. 

The incumbents who are seeking re-elections pledged to double their efforts to improve on service delivery and asked the faces in the race to give them another chance to help them protect their gains. 
The minister of defense Jacob Oboth Oboth who was nominated to defend his position for West Budama Central constituency Member of Parliament said he seeks to protect the gains that he lobbied.

Yeri Apollo Ofwono nominated for Tororo Municipality said he still seeks to continue engaging government to expedite the process of operationalizing Tororo Municipality to a city status. 

The Tororo South County Member of Parliament Fredrick Angura pledged to make flow up of all pledges and pending commitment by the executive arm of government more especially operational of the created Mukuju district, commencement of construction of the Dry Inland Port among others.

Sarah Achieng Opendi the district woman Member of Parliament thanked the voters for ever supporting her and promised to work harder to lobby for increase in allocations of resources to facilitate improved livelihoods and service delivery in general. 

Equally Alex Opua Emungas who was duly nominated to contest for Tororo South County Parliamentary seat pledged to bridge up the leadership gaps in the county adding that his focus would center at ensuring prosperity for all not for the few as it has been. 

The nomination also witnessed Shyam Tana the son to the former Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament Sanjay Tanna being nominated to join the Tororo Municipality parliamentary race. He said his leadership will focus on empowering of communities other than giving them handouts which he said has been the reason why households still swim in the abject poverty.

8. Oketcho Solomon Lony for West Budama South (Ind). 
9. Richard Owere Machika for West Budama North East (NRM). 
10. Annette Nyaketcho for Tororo North County (Ind). 
11. George Oketcho for West Budama South (NRM). 
12. Richard Othieno Okoth for West Budama North (Ind).
13. Fox Odoi Oywelowo for West Budama North East (Ind).
