Save the 4th Estate Journalists urged by Hon Sanjay Tanna

The wake up call was made by the newly appointed Patriotic league of Uganda[PLU] Head of Campaign Task Force in charge Eastern Uganda and former contestant for the NRM National Entrepreneurs League chair, Hon Sanjay Tanna at a press Briefing for Journalists and Media Practitioners he called on Sunday evening at the EAST FM Premises. Attended by journalists and Media  Practitioners  drawn from the Four radio Stations in Tororo and Pressmen from The Monitor Newspaper, New Vision and NBS Group. 

 Hon Sanjay who was accompanied by his Nephew and candidate for Tororo Municipality in the 2026 general election Mr. Shyam Tanna said if Journalism in Uganda is to get back it's glory and name, the industry had before, the current reporters/writers and Media practitioners must revert back to the professional media ethical callings and avoid petty monies paid to them by politicians and leaders to kill or stop them from reporting on human affecting stories like the Economic transformation that Uganda has gone through during these 40 years, the NRM government has been managing political, socio-economic affairs of this country.

 Hon Sanjay Tanna reminded the Pressmen and ladies, The dark past days, Uganda experienced through the Previous regimes in the Country and pursed to ask a question" When Amin expelled Asians from Uganda in 1972,at which place was he standing in Tororo and what had brought him to Bukedi Region?" no Journalist or Media Practitioner had an Answer to the question. which he later answered by disclosing the Place and Venue which was former jute Factory Compound to occupied by Uganda Baati Limited Branch in Tororo District, he was in the company of the then Defence Minister Hon Arphaxad Charles Kole Oboth Ofumbi commonly remembered as Oboth Ofumbi and Hon Paul Etiang who was his minister for Transport and Communications both late and incidentally held from Tororo District. 

 Mr. Sanjay said President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni not only has he transformed this great Country, no matter some challenges his governments face today, he has liberalized the Media Industry from the only one, Uganda Television{UTV} and Radio Uganda to a variety media houses today, With over 400 radios and over 39 Television Stations, which has created employment to many young people today. Reminding Journalists and media Practitioners, that their Bread and butter was solely fought for by President Museveni and the NRM government, he has Create a conducive atmosphere for Businesses to thrive through an enabling Peaceful environment and as a person he is able to make money and do business where he employers over 10,000 Ugandans. 

He further revealed that while campaigning for the chairperson's Seat for NRM National Entrepreneurs League he drove across the country from Kisoro to Abim District in Karamoja on Tarmac, easily without any hustle therefore the media must appreciate the Peace we have today.

And stop focusing on none issues like National Unity Platform[NUP] and their Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi because he is young, a musician who sings well with a beautiful wife.

While turning his guns on Tororo District Hon Sanjay Tanna commended Journalists and media Practitioners for falling to cover keys issues which affect the Common man "omuto wa wansi" because their compromised yet emphasize should be on good projects like street lighting in Tororo lobbied from from the Japanese government, He disclosed that the Airstrip has 1.2 kilometers runaway yet led lobbied for a 1.8 kilometers runaway from Civil Aviation Authority[CAA] to enable commercialization of the Airstrip with a two way radio system and could create 1500 Jobs through ground handlings and Air Cargo department. Now the runway cannot enable C130 Hercules to land because of its short runway. 

 Hon Sanjay Tanna equally revealed, how him and the Standard Gauge Railway [SGR] fought to bring educational institutions to Tororo yet lost the battle to open a Petroleum Institute at Datic to Bunyoro, where people are now grabbing land. And As a compromise Tororo was given the engineering University located at Rubongi Army barracks and the money earmarked for the project was given but  nothing is going on their but no Journalist wants to write about this!

Talking about markets which stalled he started with the Kasoli Market, The Market of fish and the USMID Projects of USMID which all remain unnoticed by the media in Tororo because of Petty Money yet many roads remain undeveloped.

 Hon Sanjay Tanna later said Shyam Tanna had organized the press briefing and departed. 

Mr. Shyam Tanna said if voted to be Tororo Municipality, he will elevate Tororo Municipality residents especially the youth and Young people though he won't forgot the adults, To the market vendors he will improve their working conditions, improve health infrastructure since he knows all avenues to Pull resources besides working to revive the former lost glory of Tororo Municipality. 

Meanwhile the chairman Tororo Media Network[TOMNET] Mr. Juma Seyyid thanked Tanna for always giving a loving hand to the media in Tororo and pledging to support TOMNET in anyway when especially during this time while he is too busy with campaign programs for the president but cautioned that the media will remain objective as they execute their work. The Press briefing was attended by Shyam Tanna, Aziz Mbubi his former campaign officer, and hajji Rashid Wafula among others.
