Solar Water Irrigation Scheme Launched in Chawminula Village,Agururu A3 Parish By government officials
The Government of Uganda through its Ministry of Water and Environment and the water for Production Regional Centre-East in partnership with Nexus Green contractors launched an irrigation worth millions of shillings in Kyaminula Village, Agururu A3 Parishes in Western division, Tororo Municipality.

Powered Project with a reservoir capacity of 40,000 cubic liters will
initially benefit 25 farmers covering a land area of 12,5 acres while a similar
Project in Amagoro 'A' Eastern division, of the municipality has a capacity to
serve 4,000 residents daily both Projects are addressing the challenge of water
short especially during the dry season and water for livestock.
This
industrious project was lobbied by Honorable Yeri Apollo Ofwono aka
"Hodari kwa kazi" Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality and
NRM chairman for Tororo District.
According to Senior Engineer Moses Mugerwa from the Ministry of water and Environment under the water for production department, the project is expected to have a life span of 20 years depending on routine maintenance and repair services and as results they have trained people who will turn it on or off besides creating a management committee that will service it through collection of little fund from the farmers who are the main beneficiaries.

Engineer Moses Mugerwa noted that similar project collapse when beneficiaries fall to follow set standards for its survival and maintenance but otherwise these project have ability to last for over 20years.

Mr. Mwesigwa Caleb a clerk of works with Nexus Green who was part of implementing the project said they built the power house, installed 18 solar panels, built the VIP Latrine on site, built the the fence, reservoir and the gardens among others work on site.
