Joy as UPDF repairs Nyangole borehole.

Residents of Nyangole "B" village in Nyangole parish Eastern division of Tororo municipality today expressed gratitude to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Bukedi cluster for repairing their broken borehole. Through their LC1 chairperson Wilson Ochieng, residents claimed that none functionality of the water source had forced them to trek for long distance to trace for safe and clean water. 

Ochieng thanked the government force for sacrificing its resources to better community. He said water scarcity had also breeded cases of domestic violence as wo,en would queue the congested water sources with many other opting to fetch water from Nyangole stream. 

The charity service which intends to have over ten boreholes in Tororo municipality had been extended courtesy of the Tororo municipality Member of Parliament Yeri Apollo Ofwono as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. According to Moses Obbo the political assistant to the area Member of Parliament, the partnership also targets to sink boreholes in some areas that have water challenge. Obbo asked the residents to guard the water facility to protect it from vandalism. 

Superior Opio Obbo the area village health team applauded the area Member of Parliament for his lobbying skills and urged government to consider establishing another borehole in the area to reduce on the pressure exerted on the only one water source. 

He attributed the consistent breakdown of the water source to over using of the water due to increasing population resulting from migration. Source:Omollo Joseph
