Hon Sanjay Tanna Unveils Son for Member of Parliament Tororo Municipality
Hon Sanjay Tanna said, discussions about his coming back to contest for Member of Parliament where done since he harbored no plans to run for Parliament and after wide consultations with opinion leaders, stakeholders and his former campaign Team , they decided that he sends his Mr.Shyam Tanna to come and rejuvenate his long failed projects which had been valuable and resourceful to the community of the municipality and the District at large like the Wish to have a Petroleum Institute at Datic in Tororo County South.
Hon Tanna who represented the municipality in Parliament for Two terms until 2016 when he lost to Hon Apollo Yeri Ofwono who doubles as NRM chairman for Tororo Municipality, reminded the residents of Tororo Municipality and the audiences of the two radio Stations his failed projects and the successful ones as he went through his 2016 manifesto which included;-street lighting for all streets after lobbying and securing funds from the Japanese government, lobbying of re-opening of Tororo Airstrip which necessitated renovating the 1.8 kilometer runaway although only 1.2 kilometers was done and the airstrip is open and through his lobbying skills Civil Aviation Authority came and put a two way radio system. But from the time he left nobody has come out to commercialize the Airstrip through airspace revenue , landing and ground handling revenue, he further disclosed that after he left while plans were underway with government to start an inland port in Malaba Uganda, where land over a thousand acres was secured.
However, he was disappointed that nobody or the district administration has cared to operationalize this [inland port] because of poor leadership here in Tororo, including Hon Yeri Apollo because he doesn’t understand this leaving it to shift to Naivasha which has made Kenya richer through cargo handling. Hon Sanjay Tanna equally revealed how him and the Standard Gauge Railway [SGR] fought to bring educational institutions to Tororo yet lost the battle to open a petroleum institute at Datic to Bunyoro, where people are now grabbing land, As a compromise Tororo was given the engineering University located at Rubongi Army barracks and the money was even earmarked, The market at Kasoli which has stalled , the Market of fish equally stalled and the Projects of USMID all came under his term although many remain unfulfilled.
Hon to be Shyam Tanna noted the need to improve household income through empowering household heads, improvement of the poor state of our health Units within the municipality, just the same needs to be done to our poor education system, infrastructure especially the road network, employment provision and creation of job opportunities for the youth through lobbying in these factories which is part of what he termed as a 5point Agenda.
Hon Sanjay Tanna Has contest before for NRM Vice chairperson Eastern Uganda in Central Executive Committee but lost to Captain Mike Mukula in 2021 and NRM Entrepreneurship League Chairman in 2025 but pulled out of the Race after meditation by the President to leave for Al Hajj Hassan Basajjabalaba Chairman, Board of Trustees, Kampala International University.
Meanwhile Former Mayor John Opio Tororo Municipality condemned his former boss Apollo Yeri Ofwono as a failed leader who fights cheap wars through tribal propaganda a case in point moving around sabotaging his Printing contracts, calling him a popper who should never test leadership.

In 2005 when Ken Lukyamuzi the man was barred by the Inspector General of Government from contesting in 2006 general elections after failing to declare his wealth, he fronted his daughter Hon Suzan Nampijja to replace him, she won and held the seat for five years, from 2006 to 2011 after which Lukymuzi contested and took over
In 2012 Hon Proscovia Alengot Oromait won after the death of her father Hon Michael Oromait she was just 19 years old, setting the ball rolling showing that sympathy equals votes. Alengot's father had served little more than a year as member of Parliament for Usuk County,Katakwi District in 2011 when he died.
Same year 2012 it took the sudden death of the younger sister[Hon Cerinah Nebanda] for elder sister hon florence andiru nebanda to discover her Political Ambitions; At least that is how it seems. After the dust had died on Nebanda's death and it was apparent that people had to move on to who will succeed the deceased firebrand Member of parliament of Butaleja, Andiru who is said to have been living abroad,i mmediately was fronted to continue with the projects of the sister.
